A collaboration with the Water Forum: the Lower American River

Preliminary map of the Lower American

It’s hard to understand the magnitude of the American River Parkway without a simplified map. It’s an amazing treasure for the Sacramento area, from Nimbus Dam to the confluence at the Sacramento River. I’ve made many map paintings, and this is what I’m planning here. Inspired by the creatures from the Water Forum painting, my plan is to create essays about each critical creature, including humans: an hydrologist, a geomorphologist (what’s that?), fisheries, a botanist, and recreational users. The water in this “Wild & Scenic” river flows freely, but not without influences from many conflicting users.
