Sketching: at home & away
There’s no better way to experience where ever you are, at any time. I’ve been drawing all my life, and have a pile of travel sketchbooks dating to 1972. Paris, Chicago, New York, Italy, Austria, and now I’ve lost count. No place really exotic, not yet, but I can always hope. Used to bug the Bee to send me to China when my former editor’s former editor was in the Bejing Bureau there. Too late. I can remember sitting alone at night in the train station in Marseilles, a totally scary armpit, in 1972, and sketching.
A selection of “California Sketches” for my essays in the Sacramento Bee. From Mount Shasta City to the Salton Sea. More later.
A selection of sketches from Tuscany
A selection of sketches from the Galapagos. To be continued.
